Summer play, the authentic way.
Counselor in Training Programs

CIT Program
The Summer Play Camp CIT Program is for 14 & 15 year-olds. Many of our CITs started out with us as campers, enjoying the chance to spend another magical summer at Blue Rock while taking on some new, more grown-up responsibilities. They work closely with adult staff, helping the kids, playing with them, and organizing activities. Our small groups, adult leaders, and high staff-to-camper ratio mean that we're able to get to know our CITs very well, and can provide them with a great deal of support and guidance. This position qualifies for volunteer hours, and we are happy to write job recommendations for our CITs at the end of the summer. The program is free of charge, and the CITs usually collect tips from grateful parents at summer's end.
We are looking for CITs who have a genuine interest in playing with and helping younger children. Experience with kids is a plus, and positive energy is key. Our campers adore the CITs -- what's more fun than a big brother or sister figure to play with? -- and often form strong bonds with them. We know that family vacation plans vary; while we don't require that CITs are available for the whole five weeks, preference will be given to applicants who can be with us all summer.
If you would like to apply on behalf of your child, please fill out this form, taking care to spell e-mail addresses and phone numbers correctly. Once we receive your form, we will reach out to you and set up an interview.

Junior CIT Program
The Summer Play Camp Junior CIT Program is for 12 and 13-year-olds. Their role is similar to that of CITs described above, with a few important differences. Our program allows these kids a chance to learn the ropes of becoming a camp counselor, while also having fun and being campers themselves. In the mornings, our Jr. CITs will assist group and station leaders, receiving guidance and training along the way. In the afternoons they will have the chance to visit stations as campers. Each week costs half the tuition paid by younger campers.
We are looking for Jr. CITs who have a genuine interest in playing with and helping younger children, and who wish to receive training that will help them one day become camp counselors. As with our CITs, experience with kids is a plus, but it's not required. This is a gentle introduction to the camp work world, and a supportive first "job" experience.
